UN Women Executive Board undertakes a pivotal mission to Moldova and Ukraine

From 14 - 22 May, the UN Women Executive Board is on a mission to Moldova and Ukraine to strengthen partnerships and strategies for advancing gender equality in these countries and beyond, aligning with UN Women's regional and global strategies.

In Moldova, the Executive Board held meetings with key stakeholders, government officials, civil society organizations, and women entrepreneurs to discuss initiatives supporting ending violence against women, women's economic empowerment and peacebuilding.

In Ukraine, the Executive Board will meet government representatives, civil society organizations, women - beneficiaries, including internally displaced women to address the challenges women face in the context of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Discussions will focus on several key areas: exploring the role of women civil society organizations in the humanitarian response and gender-responsive recovery efforts; strategizing ways to enhance women's economic empowerment; facilitating knowledge exchange and sharing experiences regarding the status of women and girls affected by the war, supporting EU accession process,  implementing the Women, Peace, and Security agenda in Ukraine, with a particular emphasis on addressing conflict-related sexual violence issues. The meetings aim to foster dialogues, identify solutions, and catalyze concrete actions to support women's rights and well-being in Ukraine during this challenging period.
