UN Women established partnerships with over 40 companies in the private sector in Ukraine under the HeForShe solidarity movement in the past five years. In 2021, for the second year in a row, Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) have been promoted also in Ukraine through the UN Women-led HeForShe Congress.

The private sector is considered under an ongoing UN Women programming as an important partner in women’s economic empowerment, especially in assisting women displaced by the war to gain and maintain income.

The second HeForShe Congress (2019)

HeForShe Congress 2019 in Kyiv was turned into a social experiment aiming to mainstream gender in Ukrainian society. During the experiment, 7 male industry leaders analyzed the pros and cons of implementing gender equality principles in their business with the support of seven female mentors. At the end of this social experiment on 17 October, the participants and their mentors shared their experience and plans in a joint public talk about how businesses can be more gender sensitive.
