UN Women launched the "Safe Spaces for Women and Girls" pilot project in Ukraine

UN Women launched the "Safe Spaces for Women and Girls" pilot project in Ukraine in September 2022. The project is based on the Global Initiative "Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces," which has been creating, putting into practice, and assessing strategies to reduce complex sexual violence against women and girls in public places for more than ten years.

UN Women is working to adapt this campaign to the local environment in collaboration with women's rights organizations and other local partners. As a result, four safe spaces for women were subsequently established in the Zaporizhia and Ivano-Frankivsk areas.
