Women Leaders of Self-Help Group Drive Local Development in Eastern Ukraine
UN Women with Ukrainian Women’s Fund have been supporting community mobilization for empowerment (CME) processes in Eastern Ukraine. Mobilized women improved the skills and knowledge in leadership and advocacy. 20 of the self-help groups registered as Civil Society Organizations (CSO). This transition from the informal groups to a formal CSO demonstrated a sense of commitment and readiness to engage in advocacy with the authorities and other stakeholders to enhance women’s participation in local decision making on service delivery, local development, recovery and community security. The video is produced in the framework of the joint UNDP-UN Women programme, “Restoration of Governance and Reconciliation in Crisis-Affected Communities of Ukraine” funded by the European Union.
