Building Safer Communities for Women and Girls
UN Women with Ukrainian Women’s Fund have been supporting community mobilization for empowerment (CME) processes in Eastern Ukraine. 58 self-help groups have been formed, involving 364 women and 52 men. The mobilized groups together with authorities and law enforcement implemented locally owned interventions to prevent and respond to security and gender-based violence related needs of women and girls. The mobilized groups installed street lighting and established the Crisis Social Center for Women to promote community security and provide social services to women and girls survivors of violence. The video is produced in the framework of the joint UNDP-UN Women programme, “Restoration of Governance and Reconciliation in crisis-affected Communities of Ukraine” funded by the European Union.
