Over 600 women joined the UN Women AI School: results of the first wave of the program

The final event of the first wave of the UN Women AI School in Ukraine and AI HOUSE took place in Kyiv — a free program that brought together 662 women from different regions of the country and professional fields. The training ran from May to June 2026 and covered practical AI skills, responsible AI, digital safety, and overcoming gender bias.
Over 1,200 applications were submitted from all over the country to participate in the UN Women AI School. The largest number of participants came from the public sector (30%), business and entrepreneurship (23%), and education sector (22%).
The final event brought together program graduates and experts in the field of artificial intelligence. One of the key parts of the event was the panel discussion “Education, Artificial Intelligence and the World of Constant Change” about career, development, new opportunities and challenges brought by the AI era.
Iryna Volnytska — President of SET University, co-founder and CEO IronCyber; Anna Melnyk — Manager for the Development of International Partnerships and Social Projects; Ruslana Korenchuk — Expert in Digital Transformation and Digital Skills Development and Moderator Yevheniya Glizer — Entrepreneur and Expert in Education and Business Development, Mentor and Lecturer at Google for Startups shared their experiences.
For participants, a series of interactive activities was also prepared, including an AI platform that helped identify their personal archetype and find common interests for networking.
What did the participants receive as part of the program?
The program included 6 online sessions, practical tasks and 2 applied AI Labs.
The training was mentored by Ukrainian experts in the field of technology, education and innovation, including Maria Korolyuk (LASR Labs, AI HOUSE), Anastasia Shuplat (Lviv Polytechnic University, Google for Education), Dmytro Voytek (Mriia, AI HOUSE) and other industry experts/officials.
The participants mastered practical artificial intelligence tools: from prompting and creating AI assistants to automating workflows. Within the AI Labs, they worked with their own cases, tested solutions on real tasks and applied the knowledge gained in practice. Alongside technical skills, the program emphasized responsible AI use, digital safety, and awareness of bias in AI systems.
At the start, the majority of participants rated their knowledge of artificial intelligence as beginner or basic. After completing the program, 74% of women self-reported an increase in their AI knowledge level, and 80% noted that they had already applied the skills gained in their professional activities — for analyzing information, creating content, and optimizing daily tasks.
Why is it important
The AI School helps women master relevant skills for work, professional development, digital safety, and using artificial intelligence tools in daily activities. The program also contributes to the implementation of the strategic goal of the Ministry of Digital Affairs - expanding women's access to AI education and strengthening their knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence.
