Almanac “Unbreakable Donetsk Region 2023–2024”
Since the beginning of the Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, UN Women has expanded its activities in eastern Ukraine to support women and girls in the regions most affected by the war, as well as to strengthen women’s participation in response and community recovery processes.
In this context, the almanac “Unbreakable Donetsk Region 2023–2024” brings together the stories of participants and winners of the “Woman of Donetsk Region” contest in 2023–2024 — servicewomen, doctors, police officers, volunteers, and women representing other professions who continue to work and support communities during full-scale invasion. The publication highlights the experiences of women from Donetsk Region and their contributions to humanitarian response, security, healthcare, education, and community engagement.
The publication is part of the broader work of UN Women aimed at empowering women, strengthening their participation and leadership, supporting livelihoods, and ensuring freedom from gender-based violence and discrimination.

The Unbreakable Donetsk Region 2023-2024 almanac was developed by the Donetsk Regional State Administration and the Slavic Heart Charitable Foundation, with technical support from UN Women Ukraine and funding from the Governments of Sweden and Denmark.
