The United Nations Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund’s Support to Ukraine: Key Results of 2022–2025
The United Nations Womenʼs Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) is a flexible and rapid financing mechanism that supports impactful initiatives aimed at strengthening women’s capacities to prevent conflict, respond to crises, and engage in peacebuilding efforts.
In March 2022, with the technical support of UN Women as the Management Entity, WPHF swiftly responded to the full-scale war in Ukraine through its emergency response mechanism, directing urgent funding to local women’s civil society organizations. Shortly thereafter, the launch of a regular funding cycle further strengthened women’s rights organizations — enabling them to continue their work on the front lines, deliver humanitarian aid to internally displaced people and refugees, combat sexual and gender-based violence, and participate in recovery and peacebuilding processes.
WPHF’s support to UN Women’s work in Ukraine has been made possible through generous contributions from the governments of the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Canada, Ireland, and private sector partners.
